North Omaha offers ArchWell Health members a strong base of community, wellness, and cultural support. At the heart is the St. Martin de Porres Center, home of the Sazzy Senior Program, Tuesday–Friday mornings. It’s a welcoming hub where older adults gather for low-impact chair exercises, games, light crafts, educational workshops, and community meals in a warm, friendly setting. Transportation support may be available.
Start your day outdoors at Fontenelle Park, a historic 108‑acre park with winding paved pathways, shaded benches, a lagoon, and quiet landscapes ideal for gentle strolls or walking club meet-ups. It’s centrally located and well-supported by surrounding neighborhood amenities. Another relaxing green option is Miller Park, featuring paved trails along the lagoon, open lawns, and benches—popular among older adults seeking fresh‑air recreation.
Nature lovers may enjoy Neale Woods, a 600-acre Fontenelle Forest preserve about 10 miles north. Its gentle prairie and woodland loops offer serene, wide trails, interpretive signs, and seasonal wellness programming day trips. Even if it requires a short drive, local senior groups sometimes schedule excursions here for birdwatching, mild hiking, and nature learning.
Cultural enrichment shines at Love’s Jazz & Art Center on North 24th Street, celebrating African American heritage through gallery exhibits, music events, and workshops in a neighborhood-serving space easily accessible by transit or shuttle. Tech-savvy older adults also gather at Do Space, where volunteers and peers support one-on-one digital learning sessions through the Cyber Seniors program—designed to boost confidence using smartphones, computers, and video calling.
Community services are coordinated through the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging (ENOA) and the Nebraska State Unit on Aging, which connect older adults to meal programs, transportation, wellness classes, and benefits counseling. Local nonprofits such as Volunteers Assisting Seniors (VAS) also offer free Medicare guidance and tax counseling.
