Live Life in Florida
With its warm climate, scenic waterfronts, and abundant senior-focused amenities, Florida offers ArchWell Health members countless ways to stay active, connected, and inspired. Whether you prefer walking quiet garden paths, learning something new, or enjoying a gentle paddle through mangroves, the Sunshine State delivers healthy-living options all year round.
Start with one of Florida’s most beloved spots: Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales. Its paved walkways, shaded benches, and accessible restrooms make it an ideal place for a relaxed stroll. Seniors often come to enjoy the daily carillon concerts or to attend gardening and birding workshops designed with older adults in mind. Nearby, Harry P. Leu Gardens in Orlando also offers smooth walking paths and a wide variety of tropical plants, plus low-cost admission for older adults and free monthly events.
If you’re looking for peaceful water activities, the Silver Springs State Park glass-bottom boat tours are a classic choice. The boats are covered and accessible, offering a unique view of fish, manatees, and ancient springs without the need to get wet. For a bit more adventure, Lovers Key State Park near Fort Myers rents stable sit-on-top kayaks and hosts guided nature tours through mangrove estuaries suitable for beginners and older adults alike.
Prefer to stay cool and learn something new? The Lifelong Learning Institute at Nova Southeastern University in Broward County offers short courses on health, history, technology, and more, specifically for adults 50+. In Tampa, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at USF provides similar offerings, from art appreciation to low-impact fitness and wellness lectures.
For those with culinary curiosity, Publix Aprons Cooking School hosts demonstration-style classes across Florida—many of which include healthy-eating themes and flexible seating options for older adults. If you’d rather be inspired than cook, the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota offers accessible galleries and tranquil garden spaces ideal for slow-paced exploration.
Whether you’re gliding over clear waters, strolling through vibrant gardens, or discovering a new recipe or skill, Florida offers a sunny path to wellness and joy at every age.
