Step 2:

Attend your New Member Appointment

During your new member appointment, you and your care team will spend some time getting to know each other, discussing your health history, and answering any questions you might have. Then, you and your doctor will work together to build a care plan tailored to your needs.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your New Member Appointment and bring the following:

  • Driver’s license or state ID cards
  • Medical insurance cards
  • Current prescription bottles
  • List of your current over-the-counter medications (eye drops, inhalers, topicals, supplements, etc.)
  • List of your current medical specialists

What to expect during your appointment:

Every member is different, and times may vary. Please allow 45-80 minutes to complete the following.

  1. Registration (10-30 minutes)
If not already complete, our care team will help you finish your new member paperwork. They’ll also have you sign a records release consent to give us permission to request records from your previous providers
  2. Screening questions* (15-25 minutes)
Depending on your needs, you’ll meet with a medical assistant or registered nurse from your care team. They may do lab work or perform an electrocardiogram (EKG) if you have a history of heart problems.
  3. Meet with your primary care provider (First time visits are, on average, 40 minutes with your provider.)
You and your doctor will have a chance to chat, discuss your health history, and address any concerns you may have about your health.

* If you’re more comfortable seeing a male or female member of the team, please let us know. We’ll do our best to honor your request. Depending on the current transmission level of COVID in your community, we may ask you to wear a mask at your local ArchWell Health center. If transmission levels are low, you will not be requested to mask.

Step 3:

Schedule regular wellness visits

Routine wellness visits are the key to a successful care plan. In addition to check-ups and labs, we’ll include preventive steps like exercise and a healthy diet—so you can keep doing the things you love.

Live Life in Oklahoma

Oklahoma’s wide-open skies, scenic parks, and strong community ties make it an ideal place for older adults to stay active, engaged, and inspired. Whether you’re enjoying a walk through native prairie, exploring the arts, or attending a healthy cooking class, the Sooner State offers a welcoming environment for older adults who want to live life to the fullest.

Begin your day with a peaceful stroll at Myriad Botanical Gardens in downtown Oklahoma City. With its flat, paved walkways, shaded benches, and seasonal programming for older adults, it’s a perfect spot for low-impact movement and relaxation. Just outside Tulsa, Tulsa Botanic Garden offers accessible trails and a Senior Day program that includes guided tours, gardening demonstrations, and wellness activities like tai chi in the garden.

For more nature exploration, Oxley Nature Center in Tulsa features easy walking trails through forest and prairie, with interpretive signage and indoor nature exhibits. Over in Lawton, Elmer Thomas Park provides lakeside walking paths, accessible fishing docks, and space for family outings—all with beautiful views of the Wichita Mountains.

Looking to engage your mind and meet new people? The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Oklahoma State University offers dozens of classes for adults 50+, from health and wellness to art, history, and personal finance. In Norman, the Norman Senior Center provides daily fitness classes, book clubs, and social groups, along with special events like dances and workshops on aging well.

Culinary-minded older adults can take part in community cooking classes at Francis Tuttle Technology Center in Oklahoma City, which regularly hosts hands-on healthy eating sessions and knife-skills classes in a relaxed setting. For a creative break, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art offers senior discounts and slow-paced guided tours perfect for mindful engagement.

Whether you’re watching the sunset from a garden bench, picking up a new hobby, or connecting with peers over a shared meal, Oklahoma gives older adults the tools—and the community—to live well and stay inspired.
