Beyond the famous neon lights and casinos, Las Vegas offers a surprising variety of wellness-focused, senior-friendly activities that make it an excellent place for older adults to stay active, social, and engaged. From scenic walking trails to cultural museums, hands-on classes, and relaxing parks, Las Vegas provides more than enough ways to live a vibrant, healthy lifestyle at any age.
Start your day in nature at Springs Preserve—a 180-acre cultural and historical attraction just minutes from downtown. It features paved trails, botanical gardens, and shaded walking paths ideal for low-impact exercise. Older adults can explore interactive exhibits on Nevada’s natural history or relax with a cup of tea in the garden courtyard. Another excellent option is The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat on the Las Vegas Strip, where a peaceful courtyard of flamingos, koi ponds, and waterfalls provides a quiet escape from the city bustle—and it's free and wheelchair accessible.
Just outside the city, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers a scenic 13-mile driving loop with accessible viewpoints and short, easy trails like Willow Springs and Lost Creek that are great for gentle walking and sightseeing. Closer to town, the Clark County Wetlands Park offers flat, paved trails and wildlife viewing platforms, along with shaded rest areas and indoor nature exhibits.
For enrichment and learning, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNLV provides dozens of in-person and online classes designed for adults 50+, ranging from wellness and nutrition to history, literature, and language. Many courses are held in easily accessible locations throughout the Las Vegas Valley. For creative or culinary fun, Cozymeal Las Vegas offers chef-led, senior-friendly cooking classes in small group settings, with themes like Mediterranean meals or plant-based cooking.
Older adults looking to connect with peers will find a strong sense of community at places like the Las Vegas Senior Center, which hosts weekly fitness classes (like tai chi and chair yoga), wellness screenings, and game nights. The city also offers “60+ Recreation” programs, including dance classes, excursions, and tech workshops tailored for adults 60+.
Whether you’re walking a scenic trail, learning a new recipe, or attending a music performance under the stars, Las Vegas has something for every senior looking to live well—and enjoy life beyond the Strip.
