Long before the sun comes up, Jerry is already thinking about the mountain. As a longtime Denver resident, he's spent nearly 50 years chasing fresh powder across Colorado, with Loveland Ski Area remaining one of his favorite places to hit the slopes. Long before snowboarding became an Olympic sport, Jerry was building his own board in a Colorado garage and looking for hills to ride. Since then, he's spent countless days carving through fresh powder, exploring mountain trails by bike, and finding any excuse to be outside. "My passion in life is to move," he says.
For Jerry, movement has never been about exercise. It's how he experiences the world. Whether he's snowboarding, cycling, hiking, or simply spending time outdoors, staying active has always been part of who he is. Then there came a time when his health began slowing him down.
It's a simple philosophy, but it's shaped the way Jerry approaches life. Retirement simply gave him more time to do even more of the things he loves.
But over the years, Jerry's body began sending signals that something wasn't right. Between emergency room visits and lingering health concerns, he found himself spending more time dealing with medical issues and less time doing the things he loved. He knew he needed a different kind of primary care, one that looked beyond treating symptoms one visit at a time.
That search eventually led him to ArchWell Health. From his very first appointment, Jerry knew he'd found something different. His doctor took the time to understand not just why he was there, but who he was and what mattered most to him. For the first time in years, Jerry felt like someone was looking beyond the problem that brought him through the door and focusing on the life he wanted to keep living.
Before long, Jerry had another reason to trust the care he was receiving. During a routine wellness visit, his doctor identified an underlying health issue, giving him the opportunity to get the treatment he needed before it became more serious. More importantly, it gave Jerry the confidence that he'd found the right place for his care and helped him get back to doing what matters most to him.
Today, Jerry is back to doing what he loves most. In the winter, you'll often find him on his snowboard at Loveland Ski Area, enjoying the same Colorado slopes he's ridden for decades. When the weather warms, he's out on his bike, exploring Denver-area trails or heading for another adventure in the mountains.
He knows staying active looks a little different than it did years ago, but that hasn't changed the way he approaches life.
"You've got to keep moving," Jerry says. "The things I can still do, I do."
Having a care team that knows him, understands what's important to him, and supports his overall health gives Jerry the confidence to keep planning his next adventure. For him, that's what great primary care is all about. It's not just about staying healthy. It's about making sure there's always another day at Loveland, another Colorado trail to explore, and another reason to keep moving.
